Winter's Chill Subsiding

Well after another morning of chill across much of the United States, things are finally about to make a turn for the better.

Say goodbye to the teens and 20s along the Gulf Coast for this go around. Warmer days are indeed ahead!

Last I checked, it was 42 in Key West and 36 in Miami. Tallahassee was 16! That is just amazing.

Another bubble of bitter cold is forming up over portions of interior Alaska today. Temperatures around Fairbanks and vicinity are 30 to 45 below zero.

What we often see happen this time of year is a bubble of bitter cold that sits up there a few weeks, then breaks off and moves down across the lower 48 states for the first few days of February.

We'll have to watch and see if it happens this year!
