Current Weather Hazards

Here are the current weather hazards for the US. Ongoing flooding is possible in the south with more heavy rain expected as we head into the weekend.

Some flooding is also possible in the Great Lakes vicinity on area rivers due to ice jams from the January thaw.

But the main weather stories will turn out west heading into the weekend as some large and powerful storms move on shore with heavy rain and mountain snow, large waves and strong winds.

It is expected to stay extremely cold across northern and central Alaska - not too uncommon for this time of year for that part of the world - but still - potentially colder than normal from Fairbanks northward.
