A Cool Weather Data Display Tool

The National Weather Service has developed a very nice weather data display page on which you can view radar, satellite, forecast model information, hazards, and other information. The Enhanced Data Display (EDD) is an experimental GIS-based meteorological display interface created at the National Weather Service Office in Charleston, West Virginia.

It's just really, really cool.

The link to the page is http://preview.weather.gov/edd/

The NWS Charleston Office also hosts a Facebook page with information on the EDD and updates on the EDD development.

The EDD is still experimental and is being revised and tweaked as suggestions and issues come up. A series of videos is being developed explaining how to use the EDD. The first video was recently posted on YouTube.

I know I'll be spending a lot of time on this web page!
